Launch weather forecast

 Forecast for Saturday, February 14

Issued: Thursday, February 12
Launch Weather Officer: Johnny W. Weems, 45th Weather Squadron

Synoptic Discussion: "A weak disturbance will cross the peninsula today producing variable cloudiness and a slight chance of light rain this afternoon and evening. A stronger weather disturbance forming in the Gulf of Mexico will approach the peninsula late in the week and increase cloudiness, wind, and chances of rain/thunderstorms over the weekend. Numerical guidance timing consensus is becoming persistent; concerns early Saturday is expected to be thick clouds and possibly anvils in advance of the system with the greater threat of heavier showers and thunderstorms Saturday evening lasting through early Sunday. After passage of the system Sunday morning, cloudiness should slowly clear throughout the day with a decrease in the probability of precipitation."

Clouds: Scattered at 3,000 feet with 2-3/8ths sky coverage and tops at 5,000 feet; Scattered-to-Broken at 14,000 feet with 4-5/8ths sky coverage and tops at 18,000 feet; Broken at 26,000 feet with 5-6/8ths sky coverage and tops at 29,000 feet

Visibility: 7 miles

Launch Pad Winds: South-southeasterly from 160 degrees at 12-15 knots

Temperature: 70 degrees F

Relative Humidity: 70 percent

Weather: Scattered showers

Solar Weather Activity: Low

Probability of Violating Weather Constraints: 60 percent
