Russian space workers rolled a Soyuz rocket to the launch pad at the Baikonur Cosmodrome on Sunday, three days before it's due to blast off with six Globalstar communications satellites.

The rocket's launch is scheduled for Wednesday at 1709 GMT (12:09 p.m. EST).

The three-stage rocket and its Fregat upper stage will place the Globalstar satellites into a 572-mile-high orbit about 100 minutes after liftoff.

Keeping with tradition at the Kazakhstan launch site, the Soyuz rocket was rolled to the pad in the early morning on Christmas Day.
