After a predawn journey from the Vehicle Assembly Building to pad 39A, the shuttle Discovery stands atop the seaside launch complex in blustery and cloudy conditions early Wednesday. Discovery's rollout began at 11:58 p.m. EST and ended at 6:48 a.m. EST as the Apollo-era crawler lowered the shuttle launch platform atop the pad's pedestals.
