Editor's Note: For a launch on Oct. 14, NASA has two launch "panes" in the overall window. Pane 1 opens at 10:09 p.m. with a large phase angle. Launch originally was targeted for 10:19 p.m., 10 minutes into the window to improve ascent performance. But that would require moving up the Hubble grapple by one orbit. Due to orbital mechanics, that is no longer consider a viable option and as a result, NASA plans to launch Atlantis at the opening of the second pane at 10:16:27 p.m.
