A Russian Soyuz rocket launched a classified military reconnaissance satellite into orbit today.

The three-stage vehicle lifted off at 0930 GMT (5:30 a.m. EDT) from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

The Russian military is keeping the identity of the spy satellite cargo a secret. The only information released was the craft's official designation as Kosmos-2373.

Earlier this week a Zenit rocket launched another Russian spy satellite from Baikonur, and on Sunday a Proton booster is due to carry an American-made telecommunications satellite into orbit.
