The AsiaSat 8 television broadcasting satellite is ready to ride a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket into orbit from Cape Canaveral early Tuesday.

The 32-minute ride into space is set to begin at 1:25 a.m. EDT (0525 GMT) from Cape Canaveral's Complex 40 launch pad.

The photos below chronicle AsiaSat 8's journey to the launch pad, including its cross-country shipment from a factory at Space Systems/Loral in Palo Alto, Calif., arrival at the Cape, the prelaunch hotfire of the Falcon 9 rocket, and views of the launch pad on the eve of liftoff.
