Launch weather forecast
Posted: September 22, 2005

 Forecast for Sunday, September 25

Issued: Thursday, September 22
Launch Weather Officer: Joel Tumbiolo, 45th Weather Squadron

Synoptic Discussion: "Hurricane Rita will continue to move westward towards the Texas gulf coast over the next couple of days. In the wake of Rita, surface and upper level high pressure centered well north of the state will build in resulting in a continuation of onshore flow. Weak tropical wave forecast to move across south Florida early next week may increase rain chances again on launch day. The possible development and evolution of this wave will be monitored over the next few days.

"Launch window concerns will be westward moving cumulus clouds and showers over the near coastal waters."

Clouds: Cumulus scattered at 3,000 feet and tops at 15,000 feet; Cirrus scattered at 25,000 feet and tops at 27,000 feet

Visibility: 10 miles

Temperature: 80 to 82 degrees F

Relative Humidity: 75-80 percent
