Atlas 5 launches Landsat spacecraft

Roaring off the launch pad to build upon a 40-year legacy of monitoring the Earth's environment from space, the latest and greatest satellite carrying the name Landsat was successfully deployed Monday by the United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket. Liftoff occurred at 10:02 a.m. local time from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
