Photo: Juno sees Earth and moon

NASA's Juno spacecraft captured this unique view of the Earth and the moon Aug. 26 as the probe was about 6 million miles away.

The Jupiter-bound spacecraft blasted off Aug. 5 on a five-year journey to Jupiter, where Juno will collect data on the giant planet's atmosphere, magnetic field and interior to sort out how it formed and evolved in the early solar system.

JunoCam, the spacecraft's main camera, took this image as part of checkout of the mission's instruments and systems.

As of Aug. 31, Juno was traveling more than 7.5 million miles from Earth.
